Firefighters say a child playing with a candle started a house fire in Waco on Wednesday. Six fire engines responded to 2916 Parrot Avenue in North Waco.
The homeowners told them everyone got out safely, letting firefighters focus on putting the fire out.
The fire caused extensive damage.
“If you got a candle, it’s a fire danger waiting to happen. You know, they’re pretty, people like them, they smell good, they can also set your house on fire,” said R.G. Wilson the Waco Asst. Fire Chief.
Firefighters recommend you keep candles away from children and never leave the house with a candle burning.
